Online Therapy and Telehealth

Online therapy for adolescents, adults, and older adults across the United States

Therapy That Can Meet You Where You Are

Accessing therapy should not require a long commute, a nearby specialist, or rearranging your entire day around an office visit. Online therapy offers a way to meet from a private location through secure video.

You may feel more comfortable talking from your own environment. You may live far from therapists who address your particular concerns. Health, mobility, transportation, caregiving, work, or other responsibilities may also make traveling to an office difficult.

Telehealth can make therapy more accessible while preserving the personal connection, thoughtful conversation, practical work, and collaboration that are central to the therapeutic process.

How Online Therapy Works

Appointments take place through a secure telehealth platform. You can join from a computer, tablet, or smartphone through the link provided for your session.

Before your appointment, choose a location where you can speak privately and participate without interruption. Headphones may provide additional privacy. A reliable internet connection and a device capable of video and audio are also important.

You must remain in one location throughout the appointment and cannot participate while driving. At the beginning of each session, I will confirm your physical location and how I can reach you if the connection is interrupted.

The technology is only the setting for our work. The session itself remains a real conversation between two people.

Who I Work With

I provide online therapy for:

  • adolescents ages 13 and older

  • adults

  • older adults

Each stage of life brings different questions, pressures, transitions, relationships, and health concerns. Therapy is adapted to the person rather than expecting the person to adapt to a predetermined formula.

For adolescent clients, caregiver involvement is considered according to age, needs, safety, privacy, and applicable requirements. These expectations are discussed before treatment begins.

Reasons People Begin Online Therapy

People seek therapy for many reasons. You may know exactly what you want help with or simply recognize that something needs to change.

Our work may address:

  • anxiety, worry, fear, or persistent overthinking

  • depression, hopelessness, exhaustion, or loss of interest

  • trauma, PTSD, or difficult past experiences

  • chronic illness, chronic pain, or changes in physical health

  • suicidal thoughts or periods of emotional crisis

  • grief, loss, or major life transitions

  • stress, burnout, or emotional overwhelm

  • difficulty understanding or regulating emotions

  • self-criticism, shame, or low self-worth

  • identity, relationships, meaning, or personal values

  • mindfulness, self-compassion, and overall well-being

You do not need to determine your diagnosis before reaching out. We can begin by exploring what has been happening, how it is affecting your life, and what you hope may become different.

What Therapy With Me Is Like

My work is grounded in a humanistic, person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed understanding of care. I approach therapy as a collaborative process rather than something that is done to you.

Sessions may include making sense of patterns, learning practical skills, exploring emotions, processing difficult experiences, clarifying values, strengthening self-compassion, or developing new ways to respond to thoughts and feelings. We may also pay attention to physical responses, stress, and the relationship between mental and physical health.

You are encouraged to ask questions, disagree, identify what does not fit, and participate in decisions about our work. Therapy can evolve as your needs, circumstances, and goals change.

An Integrative Understanding of Health

Mental health is connected to physical health, relationships, identity, environment, culture, access to resources, and the systems surrounding each person.

My interdisciplinary background includes mental health, healthcare, primary care, hospice and palliative care, crisis intervention, community services, schools, emergency response, integrative health, and mind-body practices.

These experiences inform a whole-person approach that considers more than symptoms alone. Therapy can include practical change, emotional processing, acceptance, meaning, creativity, and learning how to live more fully in the presence of experiences that cannot simply be fixed.

Where Online Therapy Is Available

Therapy with Z currently provides telehealth services in:

  • Oklahoma

  • Florida

  • South Carolina

  • Idaho

You must be physically located in a state where I am authorized to provide services at the time of your appointment. Your permanent residence does not automatically determine whether a session can occur.

If you are traveling, notify me before the appointment so we can confirm whether I am authorized to provide services in your location.

This list will be updated as additional locations become available.

What You Need for an Online Appointment

For the best experience, you will need:

  • a private and appropriate location

  • a computer, tablet, or smartphone

  • reliable internet access

  • functioning video and audio

  • enough time to participate without driving or completing other tasks

  • contact information for your physical location in case of an emergency

If you are unsure whether your location or technology will work, you are welcome to ask before the appointment.

Privacy and Online Therapy

Protecting your privacy is an important part of telehealth. Therapy sessions take place through a secure platform rather than ordinary consumer video calling.

You also have an important role in creating privacy on your side of the conversation. Consider who may be able to hear you, whether notifications could interrupt the session, and whether your device or internet connection is shared with other people.

Website contact forms and ordinary email should not be used for emergencies or detailed private health information. Clinical documents, intake information, and ongoing communication are managed through the secure client portal whenever appropriate.

Rates, Insurance, and Scheduling

Private-pay and insurance-based options may be available. Insurance participation, eligibility, benefits, and out-of-pocket costs depend on the plan and location.

Visit Rates and Insurance for current payment information. You may use the secure scheduling system to request an appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer telephone-only therapy?

Video is the standard format for online psychotherapy. Telephone sessions may not be clinically appropriate or covered by every insurance plan. Any exception must be discussed in advance.

Can I attend therapy while sitting in my car?

A stationary vehicle may sometimes provide privacy, but you must be safely parked in an appropriate location. You cannot participate while driving.

Can I attend from work, school, or another shared location?

Possibly. You are responsible for identifying a location where you can speak privately and participate without interruption. Consider whether other people could enter the space or overhear the conversation.

What happens if the video connection stops working?

We will establish a backup communication plan. I may contact you by telephone or help you reconnect through the telehealth platform.

Is online therapy appropriate for every situation?

Not always. Some people may need in-person services, specialized assessment, intensive outpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, residential treatment, emergency care, or another level of support. We can discuss whether online outpatient therapy is appropriate for your current needs.

What languages are therapy services provided in?

Therapy services are currently provided in English. Any automated website translations are offered for general information and do not indicate that psychotherapy is available in another language.

Is online therapy an emergency service?

No. Therapy with Z does not provide emergency or immediate crisis response through the website, email, contact form, client portal, or scheduling system.

If you are in immediate danger or need urgent help, call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department. In the United States, you may also call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
